I thought up the above theme for Thursday 13 earlier this week, definitely been waiting a few days to write this post.
Just a few rules for it though, no songs I’ve actually dry humped to in the past may be included on the list. This pretty much eliminates every song by incubus, everything on “Interventions and Lullabies” by The Format, and even blink 182 “First Date.”
Shutup. Go ahead and laugh. We were all 16 once.
In reverse order…
13. “Baby Got Back” by Sir-Mix-A-Lot. Only kidding, can’t be included since I have already done it to this one… The real song would be “Wreckless Love” by Alicia Keys. Seriously. I used to hate Alicia keys during my first Sophomore year of college, after Smokin’ Aces she grew on me. Heather recommended I check out this song last night, and it definitely had to be added to the list after the first listen. But seriously, Alicia, I hear you girl. I want some of dat wreckless love.
12. “Faithfully” by Journey. Not even kidding. I want to be able to tell my kids I once made out to Journey with their mom/moms in case more than one kid from one mother comes from this song… Ironic? Yes.
11. “Realize” by Colbie Caillat. Could be a potential hazard because there is a possibility I may sing along with this one. Couldn’t be worse than the time I yelled “WHAT?!” into a girls ear when we were making out. I can’t hear very well…
10. “Shelter” by Ray Lamontagne. This may be a revealing fact, but I could totally picture myself dancing to many Ray Lamontagne songs at my wedding with my future wife… Or husband, since I’m pretty sure I’m a girl.
9. “Down” by Something Corporate. I’m actually surprised I haven’t made out to this song. I just feel… emotion.. when I hear this song. Descriptive? I know.
8. “I’m Gonna Love You Just a Little Bit More, Baby” by Barry White. The drum beat. The weird bass line. The soothing piano. It just gets you going, gotta love Barry. I could just play the first minute on repeat for 45 minutes during a makeout sesh.
7. “Split Screen Sadness” by John Mayer. Maybe difficult to concentrate during this song, since I’ll be thinking of John’s “O” face he makes while he sings.
6. “Faster” by Third Eye Blind. This comes off one of my favorite albums of all time, which is weird considering it sold only half a million copies. The following line could be a good sign of what the song is about, “I wanna get off one time and not apologize.”
5. “Always” by blink 182. I DIDN’T MAKEOUT TO ALL OF THEIR SONGS! I really just love this song. And the band.
4. “Janet” by The Format. “I’m falling in love with you, balloons, or no balloons.” Love it.
3. “Come Pick Me Up” by Ryan Adams. Almost left this one off the list because I will always think of Chad when we arrived in Vegas and belted this song as it played on the stereo. It’s too good not to include it though.
2. “Night Drive” by Jimmy Eat World. Think the car scene in “Say Anything”.
1. “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel. See above. Maybe afterwards I could hold a jam box above my head playing this song while she sleeps in her room with the windows open… Or something.
PS Tag you’re it! I’m tagging Sarah. And Cassie. And Amanda.

Oh, MERCY. Down by Something Corporate is my favorite song of all time. Not even kidding. There is just SOMETHING that kills me, especially the Let’s get crazy, talk about our big plans… Ah. Now I’m in a good mood.

This is something that will take at least a day to compose, but just know that Blink will not be even close to making any list that has to do with making out. Maybe stabbing my eyeball with a pen, but not making out.
You stole Come Pick Me up though. That’s mine and you know it. :)

“Dry humping, byu-style”
Not songs you’d like to make out to or songs you want to make love to. The dry-humping brings it to a whole new level..

I think Your New Name is a better Format song for this purpose:
“Thought about your favorite sweater
Now I’m wishing it was at our feet…”
Yeah, there’s some frustration there, for sure.

3, 2, and 1.
But 3 especially. Because I remember when I first heard it (Fall ‘05) and it just makes me want to cry. In good and bad ways. Ah, heartache.

good one, george! Oh, and Jimmy Eat World is pretty much one of my top five favorite bands. They’re coming to Birmingham in Jan.

Are you sure we didn’t make out to Something Corporate?
I think of Heather when I hear Come Pick Me Up because that’s where I heard the song for the first time. I also like When the Stars Go Blue. Ryan Adams version, not Tim Mcgraw.
Oh and I would make out to Singalong Junk by Paul McCartney.
