“I live here and I’m sick of it too, but on the other hand, what would/will you say if/when it happens to a team you love.”

First off, lets just get this straight.  Most refs suck these days.  In the Cowboys game Sunday night Demarcus Ware got called for a bogus helmet to helmet hit when he was tackling the QB, because he was simply moving his head to follow the play/arm of the quarterback.  Then on the VERY next play Da Boys got called for another bogus personal foul, this time for someone falling on another player after he’d been on the ground, the hit wasn’t even that bad.  So what happens? Game over right? No, the Cowboys dug deep, kept playing hard, and Roy Williams (one of the former OU defensive stars) got an interception inside the 10 yard line.  On the next offensive possession the Cowboys put together a 90 yard plus Touchdown drive.  Granted it wasn’t in the fourth quarter, but they still won the game.

Refs blow calls all the time, Dwayne Wade, for example.  Whenever he drives in the lane and gets breathed on incorrectly they call a foul.  I’m sure you noticed this during the 2006 playoffs.  Mark Cuban did, and he took it to the next level of complaining even before the whole OU fiasco.  He’s an idiot in that regard, but one of the smartest men in the world in others.  I still love Mark Cuban, and if he reads this blog… how about broadcasting Mavs games on HDNET worldwide?  I’d definitely get the HD package out here.

UK has been screwed in calls before. 1992 Final Four anyone?  Christian “the fag” Laettner stomped on Aminu Timberlake, did he get thrown from the game? No.  He should have, the refs blew that call after they conferenced for a few good minutes trying to decide what they should do.  Did I go out and sign a  petition for the NCAA saying the game should be forfeited. I was 7 years old, so no, I didn’t.  And I wouldn’t have either.  Has there ever been a game forfeited due to a ref’s blown call?  Not that I can remember, and I don’t think there ever should be in the future.   Because what it boils down to, OU still had a chance to win the game and they couldn’t stop the momentum the Duck’s had built up, and I really don’t feel sorry for them.  It’s ok to get heated up during the game/directly after, but come on, it’s been a week.
Seriously, show some class, don’t be such a sore loser.

I was over it by Sunday morning. I was just posing the question. One of my comments has never before been addressed as an actual post and I can’t help but think that’s neat. However, I certainly hope you haven’t lumped me in with some of the people in my lovely hometown who were scaring me last week. The only thing I found awkward the day after the game was having to teach the YW lesson on using clean language when I had certainly been guilty of doing otherwise throughout Saturday’s game.
(I spouted a lot of those same obscenities when Vince Young was robbed of his Heisman late last year too-lest you think there’s only one Big 12 team I root for.)
