TV is my real friend these days.

I want to write about one of my favorite new shows, besides The Dog Whisperer.  My dad and I can sit and watch Cesar Millan train very puntable little shit dogs into decent house pets with the help of Redman’s pitbull for hours.  Plus everytime I watch I can’t help but think about that episode of South Park where he trains Cartman to be a good human being.

One of my favorite new shows on tv this summer would have to be Saved on TNT.   I’ve always liked Tom Everett Scott since I saw That Thing You Do years ago, and always wondered why he never got more work.  I think he’s a great actor, plus “he so dweemy”.  Saved is just a great show.  I really don’t know how to explain to you the greatness, I feel you just have to watch for yourself.  I was skeptical it was going to be good, even though TNT’s track record with recent network dramas has done me right with The Closer and Wanted, even though Wanted had that guy from Saliva in it (which may have been why it was cancelled).  Plus who doesn’t like watching 8 hours of Law and Order a day?  Thank you TNT.

One of the main reasons I was skeptical is because of the beating TNT gave me during the playoffs with Saved commercials.  I had seen the first promo with “Over My Head” by the Fray running in the background at least 1000 times, and it was only the second round of the playoffs.  Last year I had seen the preview for Into the West at least 2000 times, and I really didn’t like that show at all.  Some of you may feel the same way about shows on TNT, you just can’t watch them because they whore them out so much.  I think you should really check out Saved though, every story is a great story, especially when one of the characters is Mormon and his paramedic partner is a lesbian that he is trying to convert to God.  The music is also great on the show, one episode sticks out where they played “Still” from the Foo Fighters in a scene where McDreemy is talking with a terminally ill teen about life and if sex is really worth it.  It’s the little things they do in the show that really get your emotions going, and nearly every episode I am on the verge of tears, especially after last night where they had to perform an emergency c-section on a dying mother.

Maybe I’m just a big pussy, but I really love this show and it always knows how to play the strings of my heart.  You should really check it out before it wins an Emmy for “Best TV Show Ever”.

Or before TNT decides to pull the plug on another good show and replace it’s time slot with Law and Order reruns.

It really is good. I missed the first couple eps and then gave it a shot due to the dweeminess and now I’m hooked. With the delivering of the baby from the dead mom and the ex looking on and the spectre of their lost baby hanging over everyone - who wouldn’t be weepy?

That Cesar guy was filming on my street this week. But there were like three kids on skateboards following him around in what seemed like a staged shot. All I could think was, “this man trains dogs AND errant teenagers. He’s really good.”
