I didn’t intend for that picture to scan in black and white, but it did, and I think it’s much more fitting.
This is the most difficult thing to write that I have ever written in my life, I haven’t even gotten started yet and I’m already breaking down. Aslan didn’t make it last night. His sugar dropped way below normal, even after eating about half a bottle of cayro syrup. His cancer had come back, they had to put him to sleep.
Rereading that line is just… words can’t describe it.
Aslan was different than most dogs. He was never much of a barker, and I don’t think there was anyone that he had ever disliked. Whenever Peter broke his arm I remember he was fascinated with his cast. He was always trying to jump up and see just what was on his arm.
Aslan was always difficult when it came to toys, he never really liked to savor and enjoy them. He was always curious as to just what was inside that thing. He loved ripping stuffed animals limbs off and tearing out the stuffing. Always easily entertained with a simple water bottle, he loved screwing the cap off and chewing it until it was unrecognizable.
Whenever Robert and Tiffany lived with us shortly after they were married, Aslan loved taking naps and sleeping in my bed with me. Whenever the sun would come out and lighten up the room he would always be found sleeping UNDER my bed, as opposed to on top of it.
As with all dogs, Aslan was put through a lot of humiliating pictures. Once my Mom even put an actual Christmas wrealth around his neck and took pictures of him. I’ve excluded those pictures to keep everyone from questioning Aslan’s true sexuality, 100% ladies man.

His shirt says “Going to Grandma’s”
Aslan loved to be scratched on his chest and ears, but if you tried bothering his feet, he would slowly try to pull them away from you. Another of Aslan’s loves was most definitely anything and everything that is food. I really can’t say anything else, I’ll just show you pictures for proof.

And they’re like, it’s better than yours.

Eating popcorn off the counter.
Aslan had a tough battle with cancer, he first conquered it when doctors said he’d never be able to. He even proved them wrong when they said he’d never be able to walk again. He was a tough dog.

I think the treats in her hand helped him get up.
I always thought he’d still be alive ten years from now, playing with my kids, taking them for rides on his back, but apparently they needed him up in Heaven. He’s watching over my future nieces and nephews as they play with my future children in Heaven. The last thing I said to him in the car before they went to the vet was, “You’ll be ok boy”. I’m sure he’s doing fine.
It may be hundreds of dog years before I see you again, but it will be worth the wait.
