BCIS

February 22nd, 2005 · 6 Comments

Today in BCIS (Bull Crap In Society/Business Computer Information Systems, either one really) we learned how to use Microsoft Excel. This was a particularly hard day for me, considering I was the President of Business Professionals of America in High School, and I went to state competition in the Spreadsheet Analysis competition. Needless to say that college expenses spreadsheet that calculated the sum over four years we did today, it was really tough. I had to ask the teacher to slow down at least seven times, and ask the guy next to me at least twenty questions. Oh wait, that was the girl that took BCIS in high school, and instead of paying attention she got on AOL instant messenger and talked to her buddies who were across the damn room in class. If you were wondering this is also that girl that asks me a million questions in class because I’m the only one who knows anything about communication devices, and 128-bit WEP security.

Another popular distraction in the computer lab in HS would be ebaumsworld.com. Eventually the school blocked certain ports and sites, which would have to be updated weekly to block sites kids found lame ass flash games to play at school.

One can only drag race so many times by pressing the space bar to apply gas and the z button to use the nitrous oxide.

::EDIT::

A huge ass mosquito flew on the screen as I was posting this and freaked the shit out of me.

    Aahhh, GEORGE! I do sympathize today. Our Composition Instructor was telling us about formatting a Rhetorical Cover Sheet. In Class assignment, so go to the old, (6years) old computer there in the lab and fight with Microsoft Word.
    What she doesn’t understand is that I sat down in front of my first computer word processing program before there was a mouse beside the keyboard, so I know just a few tricks. Have never been good with spreadsheets, so I would have to listen better for your class.
    This Instructor takes attendance, so I do show up prepared.
    Your little extra about the mosquito made me laugh. The temp outside is 19o, so I doubt we will see many bugs today. However, there are geese migrating north.
    Spring, yeah.

    ahh yes. that damned spreadsheet class. under the guize of “quanitative reasoning” or something like that. BS class,and I spent most of it on AIM. The good news is that I didn’t pester anyone else with inane questions.

    Spreadsheets are fucking boring. Hopefully you won’t have to use them or make them in the real world….I was the only one in my old company who knew what I was doing in them and had to be the company geek for a while. Never tell people you know how to do shit - then they expect you to do it on top of your regular work.
    I love the edit….
